Yesterday’s news on the Coire Glas hydro in the Scottish Highlands is a welcome one, though it’s not there yet.

Sometimes I think when we say renewable energy we all think of wind, certainly this morning!

But the UK, and the Highlands in particular, has so many world class options - wind, hydro, tide, hydrogen (solar more patchy!) and we need to harness as much of it as we can.

Of all the holiday days out I’ve had, the one in Electric mountain in Snowdonia really stands out. It’s one of those jaw dropping moments where you realise the sheer scale of something. Operational within 60 seconds when demand is high - amazing !

We’ll be watching this one with interest.
